Video resume - summary (text)

Updated: May 28

This summary presentation will take 5 minutes.

Hello and welcome to my video introduction.

My name is Eugen Frunza, I am a software consultant providing services to clients in Toronto, and across Canada since 2004.

Throughout my career, I have worked as a Developer, Solutions Architect, and Project Manager, with extensive experience in Azure and AWS cloud platforms.

In this presentation, I will showcase some of my accomplishments.

If you decide to listen further, please click on the links in the descriptions: each of the accomplishments presented below will take no more than 5 minutes as well.

Accomplishments: 1) Scoped requirements, designed, estimated, built, deployed, and maintained applications from scratch for large organizations.

Most of the time:

there was no development team and development process in place, only a business manager or small business team was present.

when help was provided - students, and junior developers - the development technologies to be used were new to the team.

Notable projects include Exxon Mobil (3 years), Seneca College (9 months), BMO Paper Ticket (6 months), Scotia Bank's Software Currency Risk Management project (6 months), and RBC Renewal Awards (6 weeks). Demo:

Code Guidelines document/article

Azure B2C and Azure Single Sign-On articles

Claim exchanges, Custom Policies, MSAL authentication, and authorization via custom API and APIM - articles

2) Provided solutions to blocking problems unsolved for quite some time

Autotrader:

  • The client team did not know how to debug the Trader website.

  • The Marketing Re-engagement workflow implemented via Azure functions and the Azure Service Bus was broken for a long time.

    • Third-party implementation not known or owned by anyone inside the organization - projects could not compile due to many errors.

    • I have proposed a reconciliation process between all systems (client, server, Salesforce), which I implemented at HP (Java - Zipkin server).

CIBC

  • Production was down for a week due to a combination of factors - bad design and database processes running at night simultaneously.

DataMirror

  • Successfully salvaged a project that was headed to court with Bell Canada.

    • This involved assessing monthly change requests from the client.

    • Providing design and estimates.

    • Delivering within estimated timeframes - I have done this process for 1.5 years.

3) Undertook complex projects within tight deadlines and delivered them on time:

I have created an application to automate the process of fixing several security issues found (by AppScan and FortifyScan) in ALL of the BMO Capital Markets websites developed over 10 years, including SQL Injection and password encryption.

I also implemented security hardening for the server side of the Impax Agfa HealthCare application.

I have implemented Contrast Security at RBC, testing the security tool with 10 different teams and several implementation platforms, and provided a demo to the RBC client's conference.

4) Collaborated as part of larger development teams, as a process or product owner, and improved the application's performance:

A few examples:

HP microservices with Java Spring Cloud and contract testing.

HOOPP's integration services between AON Hewit/Java and HOOPP/.NET.

CIBC's Hedge accounts and WFC services security options. AIMIA's Open Agile delivery for Scotiabank and RBC.

CPSO migration of registration data to encrypted databases in SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS.

First Canadian Title's centralized applications deployment in a new data center

(as a personal preference, instead of demoing some of the work for the projects mentioned above, I will show you some of my work for improving the application's performance):

5) Current work at BVC (Bow Valley College) - Calgary

During my time at BVC, I worked on various projects involving .NET Core and Azure.

A few development tasks I have performed are displayed below:

Led the design and implementation of integration projects using Microsoft Azure technologies and .NET Core.

Developed .NET Core Azure functions for file upload and download to SharePoint using the Graph API.

Implemented a distributed transactions framework using a choreography saga with Service Bus compensatory queues.

Improved performance of Azure Durable Functions in a Production environment and Premium Plan.

Implemented health checks for Azure functions and designed a custom Health Check for SQL Server Replication using Azure Durable functions.

Guided writing, building, and deploying professional documentation using markdown.

Established coding standards, test coverage, and integration testing guidelines for the deployment process.
